Objective
To"fast track" the learning experience for digital image editing of aviation images and improve your photo acceptances by the Internet's popular aviation databases, like Airliners.Net, JetPhotos.Net and/or PlanePictures.Net. This class emphasizes all of the basic skills you need to know to successfully edit images that will be accepted by these websites.
Audience
Beginner and novice aviation photographers who have a desire to improve their digital image editing skills.
Prerequisites
Basic skills and familiarity with personal computers and the Windows Operating System. Minimal previous experience with a photo image editing software package would help, but is not necessary.
Course Outline
The topics covered in this class are directed at taking "out-of-camera" images and post-processing them for submission to one of the popular aviation photo databases on the Internet. The basic skills required to do just that are covered in this class and include the following:

• Selecting candidates for editing
Leveling images
Cropping images
Post-processing for ...

  Brightness
Contrast
Color Balance
Sharpening images
Cloning dust spots and imperfections
Managing the workflow
  File naming
Record keeping
Controlling submissions to website
Instruction Method

The instruction method used for this class is referred to as "Lecture Walkthru." The instructor, using a laptop and display projector, demonstrates the methods and procedures to edit digital images. Instruction is example based with many examples demonstrating the various techniques used. A course handbook containing step-by-step instructions is provided to each attendee.

While it is not possible to provide a PC for each attendee, attendees are encouraged to bring laptops if they have them. Sample images used during the class can be loaded onto the laptop allowing them to follow along with the instructor.

Photoshop V6.0 is used during class for demonstration purposes. This should not preclude anyone from attending simply because they don't use Photoshop (or that exact version) as their image editing tool. Most image editing software programs use similar methods to accomplish the same things only referring to them somewhat differently.
